Welcome to my website. I am a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Government and Justice Studies at Appalachian State University. My research primarily focuses on the relationship between political leaders and interstate conflict, how governments pay for war, and state making processes. My work has been published in the Journal of Politics, International Studies Quarterly, the Journal of Conflict Resolution, and other outlets. I teach courses on interstate conflict, leaders in world politics, American foreign policy, the politics of state making, and strategic choice in international relations. Prior to joining the faculty at Appalachian State, I was an Associate Professor at the University of Mississippi.
